Greetings,
International students play an increasingly vital part in the academic, cultural and social life of Antioch University Santa Barbara. Students from other parts of the world enrich the learning experience for all others on campus and in the community at large. It is my sincere belief that we are all enriched by close interaction with people from diverse cultural, economic and social backgrounds. With that in mind, one of my top goals is to diversify our campus and to provide a welcoming environment for students from all parts of the world.
The commitment by Antioch to the international component of our academic mission is visible in many areas. We have begun to welcome students from a variety of nations. Our goal is to have international students comprise a significant segment of our student population as we begin to internationalize our curriculum.
Location is a very important part of any educational experience. After all, you can’t study all the time! There isn’t a more beautiful city in the United States than Santa Barbara, California. In fact, Santa Barbara is often referred to as the American Riviera. You will find our students strolling down magnificent State Street, past the historic mission, on hiking trails in the surrounding mountains and, of course, on the beautiful beaches located just a few blocks from campus. The days (and nights!) are simply gorgeous with moderate temperatures and limited rainfall. From the city, you are just minutes away from the Santa Barbara wine country. The gorgeous Santa Ynez Valley, with its breath-taking vistas, is home to such notable attractions as Solvang and the Chumash Reservation.
Santa Barbara is located 90 miles north of Los Angeles and 350 miles south of San Francisco. From our local airport, you can easily get to any part of the country. And from nearby L.A., there are many non-stop flights to major destinations throughout the world. I sincerely hope you’ll drop me a note if you have any questions about Antioch University. It is an amazing place, and you are welcome here. It is my sincere belief that the respectful interaction of diverse people truly does work to advance the discovery of truth and mutual understanding.
I invite you to explore this website and learn more about Antioch, our programs and the opportunities available to students here in Santa Barbara. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email or call - we are here to help.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
Michael Mulnix, Ph.D.
President, Antioch University Santa Barbara
