The ability to work collaboratively in groups and teams is essential to developing sustainable solutions to complex issues and creating productive and humane organizations. Human beings and the organizations in which they work depend on one another. This course will provide an overview of key principles of effective human resource practice for managers and a framework for working with all aspects of diversity, understanding group dynamics, the stages of group development, and specific leadership behavior appropriate at different stages. Skills in interpersonal communication and collaborative decision-making are emphasized, and the course will integrate conceptual and experiential approaches to communication, self-awareness, situational leadership, creative problem solving, and social responsibility.
