Michele Britton Bass, EdD
Dr. Michele Britton Bass, EdD, is the former chair of the Department of Education at Antioch University, Santa Barbara, where she led MA degree programs as well as credential programs. Her background is in special education, in particular the area of learning disabilities. She has been influential at the state level working on panels with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to revise state standards for the multiple and single subject credential programs. She has expertise in cooperative learning, religion in the schools and parent involvement.
Dr. Britton Bass served as Antioch’s faculty representative to the Blue Book Commission, supporting the move toward an understanding of faculty roles within the larger university community. She was recently appointed by the state superintendent of public instruction to serve on a panel making recommendations to the state board of education on modifications for student with disabilities to the California High School Exit Exam. Upon leaving Antioch at the end of 2009, Michele has served as the director of special education for the Santa Barbara High School District and currently works at SB City College.
