Mark Shishim, MA
Mark Shishim, MA, is from Long Beach, CA; the most diverse place on the planet. He comes from a family of teachers and grew up working in his mothers ESL courses and helping her tutor people from all over the world in our living room. Mark received his B.A. in Sociology from UCSB in 2004 with an emphasis in behavior change. After serving as a Peer Health Educator for three years, and as an undergraduate instructional assistant in 6 classes at UCSB he became a professional Health Educator in 2004. While working full-time he received a Masters in Educational Leadership and Organizations at the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education in 2006, and is currently completing an Ed D in Educational Leadership. His work as a Health Educator at UCSB includes coordination of the UCSB Student Wellness Program, teaching in several health education classes, oversight of Peer Health Education, and constant research. Teaching at Antioch is a continuation of Mark’s goal to be a part of changing schools towards a strength-based, mastery approach.
