Laura Donner, MEd, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, a BCLAD Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Laura’s thesis, Multiple Intelligences and Portfolio Assessment demonstrates her commitment to building upon each child’s individual strengths, helping develop their areas of weakness, and exposing learners to ideas they may have never thought of before.

Laura has taught first, second, and third grade at Santa Barbara Charter School since 1995, where she strives to teach developmentally appropriate curriculum that is student-centered and brain-based. In 2006, Laura received her Preliminary Administrative Services Credential through Fielding Graduate University. Her field-based research project focused on examining and articulating school-wide criteria for writing at SBCS.

At Antioch University Santa Barbara, she is currently teaching Mediation and Conflict Resolution in the Schools, and Classroom Organization: Theory and Practice. She is a South Coast Coordinator for the BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment) Program with the Santa Barbara County Education Office. Laura has been a Cooperating Teacher for Antioch’s Teacher Candidates since the Teacher Education Program began in 1999.
