Juliana Massie, MA
Juliana Massie, MA, grew up in Santa Barbara, CA. She went to San Marcos High School and is a faithful Royal alumni. She worked with many agencies teaching students with disabilities while in high school and at Santa Barbara City College. Juliana received her BA from California State University Fresno and went on to get her Masters in Special Education and teaching credentials from National University in Fresno.
Juliana taught for the Fresno County Office of Education in the areas of Teacher for the Orthopedically Impaired and Adaptive Physical Education. She then went to work for Kings Canyon Unified School District as a Resource Specialist for Junior High and, later, Elementary students. While in Fresno, Juliana was a Peer Assistance and Review mentor teacher. After 9 years of teaching in the Fresno area, Juliana moved back to Santa Barbara in 2003.
She is presently working for Santa Barbara Unified School District as a Department Chair and Elementary Specialized Academic Instructor at Adams Elementary School. Juliana has spoken at a national conference on the area of reading instruction. She has had multiple trainings in the area of facilitating meetings between parents and school staff. She started teaching for Antioch in the Special Education Credential program in 2008. Juliana is married and has a son in elementary school. When she is not enjoying this wonderful city with her family, she loves to sail, travel, and SCUBA dive.
