Hymon Johnson, MBA, EdD
Hymon Johnson, MBA, EdD, was a member of the Core Faculty for many years and has now “retired” to adjunct faculty. He earned his masters degree in business administration and doctorate of education from Northern Illinois University. He has held faculty and senior administrative positions atNorthern Illinois University, The University of Nairobi (Kenya), California State University at Northridge, University of California at Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine, Fielding University, and Antioch University. Dr. Johnson brings a wide range of knowledge in such areas as: cultural and global diversity, service learning, comparative philosophy, comparative religion, meditation, business ethics and social responsibility, philosophy of education, and education reform.
Highlights of his many years of service within the community include: Founding Director of the Center for Minority Studies, Founding Director of Campus Learning Assistance Services (UCSB), Founder and Chair of the Board for the Multicultural Center (UCSB), President and Board Chair of the National Society for Experiential Education, and Founding Coordinator of the Service Learning Program at AUSB. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations and has produced two professional documentaries that describe a process for developing character through the integration of universal human values into K-12 schools.
