Gloria Liggett, MA
Gloria Liggett, MA, received her BA in Education at San Jose State College, and a Masters in Confluent Education at UCSB. She began her teaching career in 1960 in Istanbul, Turkey at the Amerikan Kiz Lisesi. Upon returning to the U.S. she continued to teach in Southern California for many years. She has taught in a tiny farm school in the Trinity Alps, a private boys school in the Santa Ynez Valley, public and private schools in Santa Barbara, in New Hampshire, and the inner city of Los Angeles. She has been involved in the beginnings of two Santa Barbara schools , The Open Alternative School, and Santa Barbara Middle School.
Besides teaching Gloria was the owner of a weaving shop here in Santa Barbara and continues to be active in the Santa Barbara fiber arts community. She continues to work with children and adults at her studio and as an adjunct faculty member at Antioch. She is a member of the Gabrielino/Tongva Tribe and is active here in Santa Barbara with the Chumash Community.
