Dean Janoff, PhD, is a licensed Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist practicing, training professionals, teaching and supervising psychology graduate students in Santa Barbara since 1974. Dr. Janoff’s clinical and consulting experiences cover a wide-range of settings: private practice; K-12 schools; social service agency; acute-care medical facility; Hospital medical staff admit & discharge responsibilities; organizational development in public, private, non-profit, and start-up businesses small to large; federal prison maximum and minimum security; drug and alcohol services, organizational management, development, and leadership training; professional monitoring and group facilitation with mandated physicians, pharmacists, dentists, physical therapists, and attorneys with significant mental health problems; and therapeutic experiences in natural settings, outdoors, at the boundary of self and environment. Dean’s current private practice specialties include: anxiety disorders, couples and family therapy, group therapy, and organizational consulting. Theoretical orientations: gestalt, systems, experiential, behavioral and dynamic.

Dr. Janoff’s past academic administrative, faculty and teaching positions include: Antioch University, Santa Barbara (adjunct and core faculty, chair graduate psychology program); Pacifica Graduate Institute (adjunct faculty – clinical psychology doctoral program); University of California Santa Barbara (clinical supervisor – counseling psychology doctoral program); Santa Barbara Graduate Institute (adjunct faculty – clinical psychology doctoral program), and the Gestalt Training Center of Santa Barbara (teaching and training faculty).
