Barbara M. Katz, MA, MFT, graduated with honors from Pepperdine University School of Psychology and Education with a Masters in Counseling. She held a successful practice in the Los Angeles area for over 20 years with special interests in women’s issues, aging, life limiting illness, and forgiveness. In addition she is a Life Coach with expertise on transitions into retirement. In support of her interest in end-of-life tasks, Barbara volunteers for the Alliance for Living and Dying Well as a certified facilitator in the Five Wishes program.

She served as a Supervisor for the Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills and the Culver City Healthy Start Program. Barbara authored a monthly parenting column for Southern California Children’s Magazine and was an instructor at Santa Monica College Extension. Barbara’s professional involvement includes service as LA-CAMFT President and Vice President. As a recent newcomer to Santa Barbara, she held a volunteer position as President of the Santa Barbara Newcomers Club.
