Ann Bumby, MEd
Ann Bumby received her BA with an emphasis in Modern Literary Studies and World Literature and a minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She also studied Literature in Florence, Italy, and at University College Cork in Ireland. She received her M.Ed and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Ann teaches fifth grade at Peabody Charter School in Santa Barbara, where she has taught both fifth and sixth grades since 2009, and also has worked as a Cooperating Teacher for teacher candidates from UCSB. She has a special interest in teaching literacy, which began when she was a Literacy Coach for the Goleta School District during her time volunteering with AmeriCorps.
In summer of 2014, Ann became a fellow for the South Coast Writing Project, with a goal to deepen her understanding and passion for reading and writing.
