Program Design
All Antioch University classes are held on weekday afternoons and evenings and on some weekend days. Three to five classes are held each quarter. Students must be available, however, during the school day for their field work and student teaching.
The Program is full time for the first year. After successfully completing four consecutive quarters, students are eligible for a Preliminary Credential.* Currently, there is only one time per year to enter the Program. While applications are accepted throughout the year, students can only enter during the summer quarter.
After completing the credential requirements, students continue in the Program for a second year at half time to earn a Master of Arts in Education degree with a specialization in Educational Leadership. This work includes a classroom or school-based research project. A Master of Arts in Education (MAEx) for teachers who already have their teaching credential and who are seeking a graduate program focusing on Social Justice and Educational Leadership is also available.
* Prelim. Multiple Subject and/or the Educational Specialist Mild/Moderate Credential.
