Program Goals

The PsyD Program in Clinical Psychology was developed to produce well-trained clinicians within a practitioner-scholar model using the core competencies of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP) and the standards of the American Psychological Association (APA).

The curriculum is based on four overarching goals:
  • To produce graduates who are grounded in the broad and general scientific and theoretical foundations of psychology with the ability to integrate this foundation with clinical practice.
  • To produce graduates for the roles of professional psychologists.
  • To produce graduates who understand and appreciate the diversity of human experience.
  • To produce graduates who utilize critical thinking skills in their analyses of the scientific foundations of psychology and in their applied work as professional practitioners.
