Antioch University Santa Barbara’s B.A. program has four structured areas of concentration — similar to majors. In addition to Applied Psychology, Business Management & Entrepreneurship, and Child, Family, & Society concentrations, through our Liberal Arts concentration you can customize your program to stretch your career in a new direction or fuel your enthusiasm for a specialized academic focus.

AUSB’s undergraduate concentration in Applied Psychology is designed to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of the theory and practice of psychology. A strong emphasis is placed on the contexts that influence the behavior and development of children, adolescents, adults and families.
The intensive and well-rounded curriculum also provides an excellent foundation for continued graduate study in clinical psychology as well as other psychology related areas.

AUSB’s concentration in Child, Family and Society provides a responsive educational program for experienced early educators or those just beginning their career. Antioch’s experiential approach recognizes the value of life experience while offering carefully sequenced courses designed to challenge assumptions, enhance knowledge and promote critical participation in the field.
CFS takes a systems approach to the important role of families and schools as nurturing settings to support thriving child development, in a fast changing society. Within a community of learners, CFS students will explore contemporary issues in early childhood education (ECE), child development and learning theory, inquiry and contemporary research in ECE, models of early education, developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children and the important laws and requirements related to the field. Specific focus will be given to the partnership between families and school settings, access and inclusion, and cultural competence.
With an Antioch University BA degree, concentration in Child Family and Society, you will be prepared to be a leader and advocate for the holistic development of young children in your classroom, your school and your community.

AUSB bachelor’s students in good standing can apply to the MA in Education & Teacher Credentialing program as a Early Decider. They may be able to apply Education program credits toward their BA degree as part of the Early Decider program.
Through AUSB’s core curricula, students explore the central knowledge and skills of their chosen field or profession to prepare for engagement in meaningful and socially responsible work.
Students who prefer to engage in a broad spectrum of studies may choose a Liberal Arts concentration which prepares them to think critically from multiple perspectives and enables them to take responsibility as citizens in an increasingly complex society.
AUSB’s Liberal Arts concentration provides an innovative, student-centered approach to education – focusing on the acquisition of key intellectual tools designed to increase personal awareness, foster individual and social creativity, and encourage professional development and socially responsible thought and action.
