MFT Consortium of the Central Coast Region meeting @ AUSB

Monday June 14,  2010 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

AAMFT-Santa Barbara Networking District

The third quarterly meeting of the MFT Consortium of the Central Coast Region will be hosted by Antioch University Santa Barbara and will focus on the recovery model.  We will continue our discussions about how to integrate the changes to the BBS curriculum into our schools and agencies.  Four CEUs will be provided.

Chad Costello, Director of Public Policy for Mental Health America of Los Angeles will provide us with a Recovery Paradigm Training.  This training will include a discussion of the roles of MFTs in Community Mental Health, a brief mental health policy piece and a review of how the Recovery Model impacts education and services.  As is customary, we will break for a networking lunch and allow some time to receive updates from our members and colleagues at the MFT Consortium of Greater Los Angeles.

The remainder of our day will be spent with Katharine Wexler, Department Chair of the MA in Psychology Program at Phillips Graduate Institute and a licensed MFT since 1978 and an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor since 1981.  Phillips plans to be an early adopter of the new 60 unit curriculum, and Kathy has had primary responsibility for making that transition. She is very aware of the challenges facing schools and training agencies and is going to share her expertise with us in this latter part of our day.

The meeting will take place from 10:00am until 2:00pm on Monday, June 14th at Antioch University Santa Barbara, 801 Garden Street, Suite 101, in Santa Barbara and is open to all educators and clinical agency staff in the central coast region.  This is not a student-attended event.  Please RSVP at your earliest convenience to Chrystie Lewis, student coordinator for the MFT Central Coast Region Consortium at mftconsortium.ausb@antioch.edu or  805.962.8179 ext. 619.  Our representation in the statewide MFT Consortium is crucial and we need your input and support to make it work.
