Traineeship

It is critical to gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge during your psychotherapeutic education. Clinical internships are an integral component of the MA in Clinical Psychology Program. Our traineeships prepare students for psychotherapy and counseling work, and are completed under the supervision of a licensed professional.

In the traineeship, students spend extensive time working with clients in local agencies and settings such as non-profit, government, educational, health care, or rehabilitation sites. We maintain agreements with more than 100 practicum placements that accept AUSB students for training, serving a variety of populations in the tri-county area (Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties). Local traineeship sites include (but are not limited to) the Community Counseling and Education Center, Pacific Pride Foundation, Family Service Agency, Cottage Hospital,  Santa Barbara County ADMHS, CALM, Family Care Network, Coalition for Family Harmony, and the Mental Wellness Center.
