The Women & Leadership Certificate Program hosted its second of three residencies at AUSB on May 9-11, focusing on developing Values-Based Leadership Skills. One of the primary goals for the weekend was to encourage each participant to explore their capacity to lead authentically, aligned with each individual’s unique vision, values, and talents.
The 16 women participating in the W&L Program were excited to reconnect and continue their journey of exploring together topics related to gender and leadership. The first workshop created space for reflection and integration on learning thus far (during the Program’s on-line courses held since the first residency, which took place in January of this year). This workshop was led by the three W&L faculty members Polly Chandler, MEd; Cindy Levine, MA; and Carol Tisson, MA.
An afternoon workshop featuring Cindy Levine and guest faculty Kathyn M. Downing, JD, addressed the core topic of “Values-Based Leadership” and introduced the importance of emotional intelligence and leadership. Friday evening closed with a wine and cheese round-table discussion, led by Program Director, Judy Bruton, JD, MSW.
On the second day, the cohort spent the morning delving into their “Experiential Leadership Projects” with Polly Chandler. The afternoon transitioned into a collaborative discussion on gender and leadership, and well as time for group synopsis and reflection led by Carol Tisson.
The final morning featured a special panel discussion titled “Authentic Leadership Moments,” moderated by Kathryn M. Downing, with panelists Annmarie Cameron, CEO of the Mental Wellness Center; Hon. Susan Rose, AUSB trustee and founding member of the Women & Leadership Advisory Group; and Maria Streshinsky, Editor in Chief of Pacific Standard. The panelists shared invaluable experiences and important “lessons learned” with the class.
AUSB looks forward to hosting this inspiring cohort of women for their third and final residency and the completion of the program on October 10-12, 2014.
