AUSB Extends Support & Sympathy to UCSB

UCSBA letter from the President to our community:

The devastating tragedy in Isla Vista last Friday has had a profound effect on the greater Santa Barbara community, and its impact is felt by the students, faculty, and staff of all of our educational institutions. On behalf of the entire AUSB family I have extended our sympathy to Chancellor Yang and the entire UCSB community and offer our support as they deal with the aftermath of this senseless and horrific act.

Our hearts go out to those who have been injured and to the families and friends who have lost loved ones. The coming weeks and months will be a critical time to support all in our community. Many of our AUSB faculty, staff, and students are actively involved in helping with these efforts by assisting UCSB students and Isla Vista residents by offering crisis counseling and referrals to those in need. We will share in the sorrow that will reverberate long after the days in the immediate aftermath of this tragedy.

For those in need of assistance, a list of local Santa Barbara area psychologists who have volunteered their time to provide counseling for anyone affected by the shootings can be accessed here. A local community resource, CARES, is the Santa Barbara community’s 24 hour Crisis Line: 1-888-868-1649.
