Drs. Nancy Leffert and Marlene Valter to Present at Healthy Child and Adolescent Psychology Workshop this Saturday

The second workshop in AUSB’s Healthy Child and Adolescent Psychology series will take place on campus this Saturday, March 23, 2013, 9:00am–6:00pm, with a focus on “Fostering Resiliency in Children and Adolescents: Assessment and Forensic Context.” The series is presented by the combined Psychology Programs of AUSB.

 

In the morning session, PsyD program faculty member Marlene Valter, PsyD, with Jennifer Davidson, MA, will present a seminar on “Child and Family Resilience in Forensic Contexts” (3 CEUs). A licensed psychologist since 2001, Dr. Valter was led by early career research and training in child development and child abuse to a career in forensic psychology with a specialization in child custody and other juvenile and civil matters. Dr. Valter worked for Los Angeles Superior Court Family Court Services from 1998 to 2004, and is currently an independent clinical-forensic psychologist serving Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

After a lunch break, AUSB President Nancy Leffert, PhD, will conduct her seminar, “Developmental Assets in Childhood and Adolescence: Strengths-Based Assessment” (3 CEUs) from 1:00 to 4:00pm. A nationally known scholar, speaker, and consultant on child and adolescent development, Dr. Leffert created the Developmental Assets Framework, a widely used and cited paradigm of positive youth development that delineates factors contributing to the healthy development of children and adolescents. She is frequently invited to give nationwide scientific keynote and community presentations. An evening reception immediately follows, to honor Dr. Leffert’s valued contributions to the field.
