Dr. Elizabeth Wolfson, Chair of the MA Program in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University Santa Barbara (AUSB) has been presented with “The Intergenerational Effort of the Year” award from AARP and The Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens (CCSC). Mary Ellen Lipman, Executive Director of CCSC presented this award at their annual tea event co-sponsored by AARP and CCSC in May stating that “The award is a way to honor Older Americans Month, a way to honor seniors, and those helping seniors.”
Dr. Wolfson received this honor in recognition of having developed a new Concentration in Healthy Aging within the Master’s in Clinical Psychology Program at AUSB. Antioch’s unique program provides specialized training for psychotherapists who will be responding to the growing needs of older adults and their families. Focusing on a preventive approach to the emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of older adults, graduates of the program are equipped to provide professional services that promote and support Healthy Aging for this rapidly expanding demographic.
