Stories from the Forest
Barbara Savage, President and Founder of The Tribal Trust Foundation and an AUSB alumnus, will speak about her experience meeting the pygmy hunter-gatherers, one of the oldest indigenous people of the Congo region of Africa who live in the world's second-largest rainforest. Her presentation will be Monday, April 18, 2011, 4:00 – 5:00 PM @ASUB in room 203. She will also tell us about The Tribal Trust Foundation’s mission is to raise money and awareness for cultural preservation projects around the world.
The Trust identifies sustainable grass roots projects that help preserve the living arts and culture of indigenous people. When the projects are in politically hostile environments, the Tribal Trust Foundation (TTF) partners with local organizations whose experience and existing relationships help sustain these joint initiatives.
The debut of the Mbuti traveling exhibition in March 2011 at AUSB was part of our community collaboration. We hope to foster global support for preservation of the rainforest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and for protection of the indigenous people who have lived there sustainably for thousands of years.
This event is free and open to the AUSB Community.
